Public Information Meeting: South Winnequah Road Improvements
Thursday, October 21, 2021
Strand Associates project engineers and City staff will present several options for proposed improvements to South Winnequah Road, from Schluter Road to Bridge Road. All options would include removal of the bump-outs, milling 1 ½” of asphalt and resurfacing, new pavement markings, installation of several speed humps, and minor adjustments for storm water collection.
- Option 1: includes the basic improvements listed above (removal of the current bump-outs, installation of three speed humps, 1 ½” of asphalt removal and resurfacing, and center line and bike lane pavement markings) and installation of several parking in-bays for street parking.
- Option 3: includes the basic improvements listed above, shifting the curb a few feet to the west on both the east and west sides of the street from Owen Road to Maywood Road, and installing sidewalks on the east side of the street from Maywood Park to Bridge Road in 2022.
- NEW Option 4: a new hybrid option recently created after the October 6, 2021 public works committee meeting also includes the basic improvements listed above in addition to narrowing the street to 22’ wide, providing two 11’ wide drive lanes with no parking. This will be done by removing and shifting the west side curb and gutter to the east while leaving the east curb and gutter at it’s current location. This option also includes a newly established grass terrace immediately west of the new curb, and construction of a new 8’ wide shared multi-use bicycle and pedestrian path just west of the street and terrace, all nearly within the same street footprint that exists today.
