Lake Monona suffers annually from algae blooms that close our beaches and affect the lake's fish and wildlife habitat. That's the bad news. The good news is you can help! Monona has an Adopt a Storm Drain and Leaf Management program that you can be a part of. By adopting a storm drain in your community you can help the City's Public Works crews keep Monona's streets and storm sewers clear of phosphorus and other dissolved nutrients that cause algae blooms. Even clearing the storm drain and street gutter near your property only once each year during leaf fall season can make a big difference. If you want to learn more about this program or sign up please visit this website - https://mymonona.com/1271/Leaf-Management-Adopt-a-Storm-Drain-Prog today.
To sign up contact Brad Bruun with the City of Monona Public Works Department - Email: email@example.com or Call: (608)-222-2525. Upon signing up you will be given information about the program and given a free yard sign to help promote it.
