Ad Hoc Pedestrian and Bicycle Committee

This committee was established in February, 2018 to assist the Common Council in creating a plan to develop safe, accessible transportation corridors throughout the community.

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Implementation Committee

This workgroup was established by the City Council in March 2021 to determine a plan to ensure that Monona makes a long-term commitment to racial and social justice and equity both at city hall and in the community at large.

Board of Review

The Board of Review is a quasi-jucicial body which hears property assessment appeals.

Community Media Committee

The Committee Media Committee governs the community cable channel and radio station.

Community Development Authority

The CDA is a separate political authority which acts as the City's agent in planning and carrying out community development programs and activities.

Distinguished Service Award Committee

The Distinguished Service Award Committee meets annually to select individuals to receive the City's Distinguished Service Award.

License Review Committee

The License Review Committee reviews and makes recommendations to the City Council for all applications relating to fermented malt beverages and intoxicating liquor, mobile homes, and massage establishments.

Library Board of Trustees

The Library Board is a semi-autonomous body of seven persons empowered by state law and city ordinance to act as the governing body of the library.

Long-Term Facilities Advisory Committee

This committee was established in February 2018 to develop a long-range plan for the renovation and/or replacement of city facilities.

Parks & Recreation Board

The Park and Recreation Board reviews and recommends policies to the City Council that are necessary for the management of city parks and recreation facilities.

Plan Commission

The commission reviews applications for zoning permits for all districts except the single-family residence district and the two-family residence district.

Police & Fire Commission

The Police and Fire Commission has jurisdiction with regard to the hiring, firing, disciplining, or promotion of personnel in the Police and Fire Departments.

Public Safety Committee

The Public Safety Committee reviews and recommends ordinances affecting public safety to the City Council.

Public Works Committee

The Public Works Committee has the duty, under the direction of the City Council, to superintend the construction and maintenance of streets, alleys, sidewalks, storm sewers, sanitary sewers, water system, and other public works projects.

San Damiano Project Steering Committee

The San Damiano Project Steering Committee was formed on August 16, 2021 by the Monona City Council to assist the City and the Friends of San Damiano (a 501c3 non-profit) to coordinate the work related to the City’s purchase of the former San Damiano property.

Senior Citizens Committee

The Senior Citizen Committee investigates the needs of senior citizens, develops programs and services specifically to serve senior citizens, and provides public information regarding senior citizens' programs and services.

Sustainability Committee

Monona's Sustainability Committee guides and assists Monona's residents, businesses, and government in becoming a community that meets the needs of the present without compromising the resources available for future generations.

Tourism Commission

The Tourism Commission coordinates tourism promotion within the City.

Transit Commission

The Mass Transit Commission develops and recommends to the City Council policies on the various elements of public transportation and transportation facilities.

Zoning Board of Appeals

The Board of Appeals assists the zoning administrator in making interpretations; hears appeals for any person that is aggrieved by a decision of the zoning administrator and passes judgement on that appeal; and approves alternate methods of construction and materials.
