Schluter Beach

Looking for a place to catch a few rays, play in the sand, and enjoy the cool waters of Lake Monona? Head to Schluter Beach, in the 4500 block of Winnequah Road. There’s a small gazebo, grills, picnic tables, a playground, and bathrooms on site, as well as a 35-stall parking lot. A new, floating, handicap-accessible pier was placed at Schluter Beach in 2001. Right across the street are a couple of landmarks: It was in the building currently housing Monona Motors that the city was founded, and the nearby Bait Shop is a great place for ice cream!

A kayak/canoe rack is available at Schluter Beach to store boats during the boating season (May 1-Oct. 31).  A space on the rack can be rented for $60/season for Monona residents or $150/season for non-Monona residents.  For information about renting a space, please call the Monona Park and Recreation Department at (608) 222-4167.
