Monona has several forms of public transportation for residents and visitors. The Mass Transit Authority (MTA) develops and recommends to the City Council policies on the various elements of public transportation and transportation facilities. The purpose of the Mass Transit Authority is to provide for the safe and efficient transport of persons and goods within the community. MONONA EXPRESS: Monona Express is a contracted commuter service which makes four loops each morning and four loops each afternoon to take riders to downtown Madison and the UW Campus. As of July 2012, the Monona Express now also stops at UW, VA, Meriter, and St. Marys Hospitals.
