Waste Collection
Monona's waste and recycling collection provider is Veolia Environmental. All trash and recycling must be placed in city-owned carts (grey carts for trash; blue carts for recycling) and taken to the curb by 7:00 am for collection on your collection day. Beginning January 3, 2012, Monona will be divided into two districts for collection of waste and recycling. Waste is collected every week; residents in waste collection district 1 have collection on Tuesdays; residents in waste collection district 2 have collection on Wednesdays. To see in which district you reside, please click here for a map.
In addition, waste collection districts 1 and 2 above are also divided into an "A" and "B" week for collection of recycling, as recycling is collected once every other week. To view a calendar of recycling pick-up in your district, please click here.

For large items which will not fit into the trash cart, Veolia operates a bulk waste collection program. Residents should contact Veolia directly at (608) 251-7878 or 1-800-583-2510 for collection of these items. There is a charge for this service, and Veolia will bill residents individually.
Household hazardous chemicals can be disposed of through the Dane County Clean Sweep Program. For more information about this program, please go the Dane County Clean Sweep website at www.danecountycleansweep.com/
