Our friend and colleague, Demita Gerber, passed away on Saturday, June 12.  Demita had been the Director of the Monona Public Library since 2006.  Please click here to learn more about her life and the contributions she made.

The Monona Public Library is proud to provide a wide variety of materials, services, and programs for people of all ages.

We are members of the South Central Library System and are also a LINK member library which provides its members access to nearly 3 million items representing 790,000 different titles.

The Monona Public Library is operated by the City of Monona to serve its community and the residents of the South Central Library System (Dane, Columbia, Green, Portage, Adams, Sauk, and Wood Counties). Monona library cards are honored at all of the public libraries and bookmobiles in the South Central Library System and throughout most of Wisconsin.

Monday – Wednesday:  9:00 am – 8:00 pm
Thursday & Friday:  9:00 am - 6:00 pm
Saturday:  9:00 am – 5:00 pm
Sunday:  1:00– 5:00 pm (between Labor Day and Memorial Day)

READING ADVENTURES! 

Sign up now!   This program runs from June 8 through July 30 during library hours. Stop in to pick up your reading record or download from www.mononalibary.org.  Here's how it works:
  • Check out materials, record your reading.  
  • Read what you love to read. Win prizes!
  • Prizes available starting June 16.
  • Four Levels to Enter: Read to Me Puddle Jumpers (Preschool); Page Surfers (entering K to entering Grade 5); Middle School Wave Readers (entering Grade 6 to 8); Teen & Adult Water Logged Readers (High School up). 
Reading Adventure prizes include books, a treasure box of prizes, and gift certificates and coupons from area businesses for goodies such as pizza, ice cream, movie pass, books, Schuster’s Farm maze pass, Dane County Fair pass, and more.  Sponsored by the Friends of the Monona Public Library. WILD WEDNESDAYS: performance for families

Charlie Williams, the Noise Guy! Sound Waves. 
A shower of splashy stories and slobbery sounds for little squirts this Summer! Charlie Williams is the Noiseguy, a vocal sound impressionist who can imitate bubbles and flushes, splashes and slushes. Children are invited to make “ocean creatures” out of recycled materials. This program encourages taking care of planet Earth while learning and having fun. Make extra & decorate the library. Sponsor: SCLS

Always fun, always interactive! Dave’s musical program keeps children engaged and thinking. Kids sing some, move some, act some, dance some, shout just a little bit, and laugh a bunch. "If you really want to know what David does just ask anybody in Dane County under the age of 7.”

Sea Creatures Ocean Fashion Show!
The first 10 children ages 7 & older to sign up will get to be a sea creature in the Ocean Fashion Show.  Sign up to attend.

Karen Wendt will present the story "I Took My Frog to the Library" followed by Anne Moser from the Wisconsin Water Library brings frogs and toads for a Fantastic Frogs & Terrific Toads Family Storytime!  Don't miss it.

For children ages 6 to 10.

11:30 am:  Read aloud, bring your own lunch!  
12:00-1:00 pm:  Activity.
