Building Inspection

The Building Inspection Department is responsible for administering the residential zoning ordinances and enforcing the City’s construction standards, code for new buildings and remodeling of existing buildings. The department issues all building permits for residential, commercial and industrial buildings. All plumbing, electrical, heating, air conditioning and ventilating permits must be obtained from this department.  In addition, code enforcement governing property maintenance, noxious weeds, sign compliance, and commercial zoning maintenance is performed by the Building Inspection Department.

The City of Monona Building Inspector is Martin PIlger.  Marty is also the Building Inspector for the Village of McFarland and divides his time between Monona and McFarland.  His hours in the City of Monona are as follows:

Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays
Mornings
(Office Hours: 8-9 am)
Tuesdays, Thursdays
Afternoons
(Office Hours: 1-2 pm)
The Building Inspector holds office hours at City Hall during the first hour of each shift.  Residents who wish to meet with him may stop in during those hours or call to schedule an appointment at another time.
