Assessor

The valuation and assessment of property is the responsibility of the assessor’s office. The City of Monona contracts with a private firm, Accurate Appraisal, LLC., to perform the statutory duties of appraising all newly-constructed buildings and major remodeling of real property.

Property tax information for Dane County properties, including Monona properties, can be viewed at http://accessdane.co.dane.wi.us/html/public.asp.

2011 Property Assessments

Residents can expect to receive their 2011 property assessments around June 1, 2011.  Assessment letters will be sent to all residents, even if the assessment has not changed from last year.
 

Open Book Appointments

Residents who would like to meet with an assessor regarding their assessment can schedule an Open Book appointment.  Open Book appointments are available on the following dates:
  • Wednesday, June 15, noon-3:00 pm & 4:15-7:00 pm
  • Thursday, June 16, 9:00 am-12:30 pm & 1:45-4:00 pm
All Open Book appointments meet at Monona City Hall.  Appointments can be scheduled online at http://www.accurateassessor.com or by calling Accurate Appraisal at 1-800-770-3927.
 

Board of Review

Residents who are still not in agreement with their property assessements after an Open Book appointment may appeal to the Board of Review.  The 2011 Board of Review is scheduled for:
  • Thursday, July 7, 2011, 6:00-8:00 pm in the Community Media Room at the Monona Public Library. 

Residents who wish to appear before the Board of Review must call City Clerk Joan Andrusz (608-222-2525) to be placed on the agenda.
