Assessor

The valuation and assessment of property is the responsibility of the assessor’s office. The City of Monona contracts with a private firm, Accurate Appraisal, LLC., to perform the statutory duties of appraising all newly-constructed buildings and major remodeling of real property.

Appraisal information for Monona properties can be viewed at http://www.accurateassessor.com/.

2010 Property Assessments

If your property has been reassessed this year, you will receive a letter from Accurate Appraisal, LLC, around June 1, 2010.  (Please note that in prior years, you only received a letter if your assessment changed by more than $100.  However, the City's new policy is for all residents to receive a letter of their assesment, even if the assessment has not changed.)

If you disagree with the assesment of your property or wish to speak with an assessor about how the assessment was determined, you can schedule an Open Book appointment.  Your assessment letter will inform you of how to schedule these appointments.

2010 Open Book Appointment Dates

The 2010 dates for Open Book appointments are:

     Wednesday, June 16
     12:00-3:00 pm & 4:15-7:00 pm

     Thursday, June 17
     9:00 am-12:30 pm & 1:45-4:00 pm

2010 Board of Review

If you are not satisfied at Open Book, you may appeal your assessment with the Board of Review, scheduled for July 7, 6:00-8:00 pm, in the Community Media Room at the Monona Public Library.  Information about the Board of Review will be available at Open Book appointments.

Residents who need more information on Open Book or Board of Review can contact City Clerk Joan Andrusz at 222-2525, jandrusz@ci.monona.wi.us
