Quilts & Candles in Watertown and Milwaukee, WI
Join us on this trip to visit the Milwaukee Art Museum for the Quilting Exhibit. Enjoy a guided tour of the exhibit featuring more than 40 outstanding quilts on exhibit from Winterthur documented women's political, social, and cultural lives in the formative period of the early American republic (1760 - 1850). With skillful needlework, graphic patterning, and an eye for color, quilt makers transformed both common and exotic textiles inot extraordinary works of art. Lunch will be included today at The Safe House. After lunch, you will go to the Hat Creek Candle Company, started in a Watertown kitchen in the fall of 1999. One of the founders, Kari Barnes, was introduced to the candle making process by her Aunt and was inspired by the artistry of combining the various colors and fragrances to the hot wax.
