Green Tuesdays Films & Lectures: "Carbon Nation” with two shorts “For the Price of a Cup of Coffee” & "Extreme Heat”

Date: Tue - 03/13/2012
Time: 6:30 PM
Location: Monona Public Library, 1000 Nichols Rd., Community Media Room
Host: The Natural Step Monona. Films: “Carbon Nation” with two shorts “For the Price of a Cup of Coffee” and “Extreme Heat”.

“Carbon Nation” (86 min.) is a business film, a national defense film, an energy-reduction film. The heroes in the film are pragmatists. “Carbon Nation” is a documentary movie about climate change solutions. Even if you doubt the severity of the impact of climate change or just don't buy it at all, this is still a compelling and relevant film that illustrates how solutions to climate change also address other social, economic, and national security issues. You'll meet a host of entertaining and endearing characters along the way.

"For the Price of a Cup of Coffee" is a 15-minute documentary examining the life cycle of a paper cup and the repercussions of a society reliant on convenience. Why are fewer than 1% of coffee shop patrons bringing their own cups? Why do we have so much garbage, and where does it go? What is the true cost of a disposable culture? This film is full of information that all consumers should know about the products that we use every day, and the steps we need to make towards a more sustainable world.

At Green Tuesdays & Thursdays you can enjoy free films, presentations, and conversations about making our world better together. Open to the public in eight locations. Monona's Green Tuesdays are on the second and fifth Tuesdays of the month, from late summer through late spring.
