Monona News Update 5/13-5/20
Date: 05/13/2013
This is the Monona News for the 3rd week of May.
Last Monday, the Monona City Council met at the Public Library. The council approved a proposal for surveying services for dredging near Schluter Beach, and approved an amended developer's agreement with the Treysta Group. In new business, the council approved a resolution in support of a grant application, and heard a proposal for a mail box policy. Last of all, they heard about a Ordinance against Bullying and Harassment, and saw more details about a possible solar project on city buildings. If you would like to see last weeks meeting, we have uploaded it to the city's website.
The Monona Grove School Board also met last week. The meeting began with recognition of recent staff awards and the State Champion Swim team. The board then saw presentations from the Tech Ed department and the pool, and got another update on the remodeling of Nichols. The board was asked to continue a girls hockey program with other districts, and to apply to the DPI about a Digital Electronics Course. Finally, the board got updates about Open Enrollment and applications for Nuestro Mundo. If you would like to see last week's meeting, we have uploaded it to mononatv.com.
Though construction is well underway, local representatives officially started the Monona Drive project last Friday. Mayor Miller, Representative Kahl, and County Executive Parisi all spoke about the project, and how the process to rebuilt Monona's Main Street has taken almost 14 years of planning and design. They also thanked the City of Madison for partnering together and reminded everyone to slow down to help keep workers safe in the construction zone.
