Looking for a place to catch a few rays, play in the sand, and enjoy the cool waters of Lake Monona? Head to Schluter Beach.
There’s a small gazebo, grills, picnic tables, a playground, and bathrooms on site, as well as a 35-stall parking lot. A new, floating, handicap-accessible pier was placed at Schluter Beach in 2001. Right across the street are a couple of landmarks: It was in the building currently housing Monona Motors that the city was founded, and the nearby Bait Shop is a great place for ice cream.
Please note: There is no lifeguard on duty, and this area is not monitored for water quality. Swim at your own risk.
